The statistics are alarming

Suicide is the leading cause of death for Australians aged 15-44

There has been a 20% increase in the number of suicides in the last decade

75% of suicides are by males

In Australia more males die by suicide than in car accidents or homicides

The risk of suicide in regional areas is more than twice that of metropolitan areas

Females are three times more likely to self harm

Gay males aged 15-24 (5% of population) make up 40% of suicides in that age bracket

Majority of male suicides are people who showed no prior mental health issue
